The Totem Acoustic Tribe Tower Thunderbird is a high-performance floorstanding speaker housed within a luxurious, sculptural cabinet and represents one of Totem’s most significant loudspeaker achievements to date. Designed and manufactured in Canada, the Thunderbird is built around Totem’s renowned Torrent Technology, delivering an exceptionally expressive and lifelike musical performance normally associated with high-end loudspeakers several times its price. Its remarkable dynamic capability gives music a sense of scale and authority that belies the speaker’s elegant proportions, while its wide listening sweet spot and unusually forgiving placement make it easy to integrate into a variety of listening rooms. Engineered to minimize the influence of room-related acoustic imperfections, the Tribe Tower Thunderbird can create a full-scale musical presentation without demanding highly restrictive positioning.
The Thunderbird creates an exceptionally immersive listening experience, combining extraordinary detail with an organic, natural presentation that allows the loudspeakers to seemingly disappear from the room. Its expansive soundstage can extend far beyond the physical boundaries of the speakers in width, depth and even height, while holographic imaging places vocals and instruments within that space with remarkable precision. Torrent hand-assembled drivers feature machined precision craftsmanship and revolutionary magnetic technology. The proprietary magnetic design keeps the voice coil continuously immersed within the magnetic field for absolute and instant control of its every reaction. These woofers possess such wide and flat response that they remarkably require absolutely no active or passive crossover components. This radical technology offers an unadulterated flow of information and energy for substantial advantages in clarity, phase correctness, and striking accuracy both on and off axis.
Totem crossovers don’t require many parts because of the synergy between our customized drivers, but the components are the world’s best. Our crossovers aren’t built on PCB’s because the laminated conductive tracks are weak and inconsistent. Instead they are secured to a thin piece of fiberboard or insulated polymers and components are mechanically crimped together because it simply sounds better. When we must solder, we choose WBT Silver Solder, the purest in the industry.
Meticulously hand crafted for peak performance that lasts decades. Lock-Miter assembly is an intricate woodworking procedure where edges physically interlock together. The resulting cabinet is up to 5 times stronger than conventional V Groove cabinets. Internal and external veneering resists warping, structurally fortifies, and ensures consistent peak performance. Industry unique Borosilicate damping manages dissipation, keeps the cabinet musically alive, and never deteriorates. Popular materials like poly fillers eventually decay, dramatically affecting the performance. Variable Density Fiberboard is denser at the extremities than the interior to reduce repetitive nodes and resonances.
Two sets of high conductivity gold plated connectors efficiently capture the incoming signal for superior speaker performance and allow traditional, bi-wire, or even bi-amplification options. They accommodate a variety of connection options such as bare wire, banana plugs, and spades.
Machined from solid aluminum, the Semi Spherical Decouplers are threaded to smoothly fit into the inserts at the bottom of the cabinet and the provided nuts allow for perfect leveling to any surface. The rounded surface prevents scratching like traditional spikes. They are pre-installed on the Tribe Tower.
